WHEN TO USE: Extract one precisely addressed value from an API payload without a query language. Resolves RFC 6901 string pointers, including ~0 and ~1 escaping and the empty root pointer. Missing members, URI fragments, leading-zero array indexes, and reserved prototype-related keys are errors. Maximum document size 100,000 characters and depth 32.
